One of the best Diecast recreated during 2006, and it will
truly be remembered as a classic. This is one of those models that every
serious collector will have to have in his or her collection or it just
won’t be complete without it. Wow, they're powerful statements for
any model, let alone one that is not a limited edition, but I stand by
my comments and I will tell you why.
The '57 from Danbury Mint is brand new tooling for 2006
and that my friend is where I will start. If you follow Danbury Mint model
releases you know they do about four 'New tools per year. Now before you
fill my inbox with emails asking me to clarify that statement I am generally
speaking. It's not written in stone one-way or another that there will
be four 'New tools every year so don't hold me or anyone else to that statement.

The Eldorado model was part of the Cadillac line from 1953
to 2002. The Cadillac Eldorado was the longest running American personal
luxury car as it was the only one sold after the 1998 model year.
The name Eldorado was derived from the Spanish words "el
dorado", the "golded one. The name was proposed for a special
show car built in 1952 to mark Cadillac's Golden Anniversary; it was the
result of an in-house competition won by Mary-Ann Zukosky, a secretary
in the company's merchandising department.
Although cars bearing the name varied considerably in bodystyle
and mechanical layout during this long period, the Eldorado models were
always near the top of the Cadillac line.
To start off let me comment the fit and finish were impressive.
Body panel alignment is as good as it gets. To close the hood completely
firm pressure was required at the rear of the hood or you had that slightly
raised look with noticeable lines protruding above the fenders. The trunk
lid also required pressure to bring it completely closed too. The paint
was absolutely gorgeous smooth and glossy with just a subtle amount of
metallic throughout, applied perfectly. Dusty Rose is the name of the color
on this replica, a more appropriate choice there couldn’t be.
1957 the Eldorado once again presented an innovative rear-end
design, a low, downswept fenderline capped by a pointed, in-board fin.
The rear fenders were commonly referred to as "chipmunk cheeks".
This concept was used for two years, and did not spawn any imitators. The
Danbury Mint replicated the "chipmunk cheeks" and fins perfectly
to scale. I became mesmerized by the accuracy of the lines on this replica;
they are perfect or pretty darn close for sure.
In 1957 the bumpers gained black rubber finials, which only
heightened the relationship between the styling element and a stylized
exaggerated breast and nipple. Once again The Danbury Mint replicated the
rubber finials to perfection. You want to talk "bling" this model
is the "bling, bling" queen for sure.
While I am still focused on fit and finish you will like
the three-piece boot, I suggest you assemble it off the car to assure all
pieces snap together correctly. Sweetttttt! Check out the seat backs they
even have the wrinkles around the stitching just as the original would. "Bling" abounds
throughout this fantastic replica and the best part that I didn’t
mention yet is this is a regular issue, and Preview Society car too. What
does that mean? It means you get the best bang for your buck no high Limited
Edition price to contend with.
The dash has it all readable gauges, clock, radio along
with all the controls found on the original car. What can I say but "BUY
THIS MODEL!"
The ’57 Eldorado was undoubtedly one of the most stylish
cars of its day. Just look at our images and argue the point that it wasn't;
you can't. It’s just a beautiful piece of American Automotive history
