Radio TV Service |
| |
Radio TV Service - The facade is styrene, with painted metal
mesh to simulate grills above the windows. The outside light is constructed
from aluminum tubing, a plastic button, and part of a necklace clasp to
form the collar. I used to love going to this shop when I was a kid. It
was a "messy guy" place. |

Shop Interior |

Radio TV interior - Basswood was used for the radio/ record
player unit, the packing crate and the brown TV cabinet. For some reason,
places like these, were always painted just one color: trim, walls and
ceiling. This is the color I remember vividly. |

Repair Bench |

TV repair bench - When I was older, I would take apart TV's
to study their insides. It was amazing to find that a lot of the picture
tubes were round. The guts of this particular set were made from bits of
plastic tubing, the ubiquitous aluminum tubing, and metal rods. The TV
cabinet is styrene. Work surfaces from that time were often covered in
linoleum, so I Xeroxed samples from a catalog to do the job. |
