DM 1953 Buick Estate Wagon Steering Repair...

I'm not sure this should be called a repair; nothing is broken or missing, just stiff. The front tires on the DM 1953 Buick Estate wagon were not posable when it arrived. Fearing if I forced the steering wheel left or right or if I manually attempted pose the wheels I would surely snap some steering lineage; it was that stiff. To remedy my problem I examined how the mechanism worked.  Realizing that the tie-rod guide screw was just to tight, backing it off one turn or until the wheels moved freely did the trick, everything operated freely, as it should.

Below is a detailed shot of what I found and I how I remedied the stiff condition.

Note:  Use these instructions as a guide only!  JSS takes no responsibility for any damage incurred while doing this repair. If you are not comfortable using a Philips screwdriver then put the car down immediately and leave it alone.

Enjoy!
