Roger had assigned me this project
so I was looking for the biggest bang we could get. The prototype
had every bell and whistle we could think of. The door glass worked
as did the rear glass. Gas door opened and even the radiator cap
popped off to reveal fluid. There were multiple versions which included
Belvedere, Savoy and Plaza. There was also a convertible
Belvedere. The coup’ de graz was Christine which came with a display…the
garage. The Christine model lacked trunk detail-this is where the
electronics were hidden. The base of the garage was to be a Plymouth radio dial that
would work mysteriously. Turn it on and it glowed, you heard the
engine start, then smoke, then the car bursting thru the doors with
the lights on. Music changed when you pushed the buttons. All the
songs were from the book. When you turned it off the car backed into
the garage and the lights went out. Just when you thought it was
over, the radio came on and the lights went back on…then the
door shut. We had a working garage prototype and were hammering out
the details when this was killed completely. I had completed a proto
review and returned the model It looks like FM used the 43rd model
to make their version and this one just got lost. |
