The 59 Cadillac's that might have been...

There has always been a rumor that FM was going to manufacture a Black 1959 Caddy? Well guys/dolls you weren't’t crazy there were plans in the works to produce the model in Black and white and here it is, what a beauty if I must say so myself. Roger Hardnock had the idea to create this model and had two models made to present to management. However, once again the Franklin Mint took their eye off the ball and the black model never made it to the launch pad.

In addition Roger always wanted to make a pink Caddy but hated the idea of a bubblegum colored car. Using an existing convertible he had two samples made in a very unique metallic pink. You had to see the color to believe it...really different.

There are two of each known to exist. The Black and white car was not approved in design review so back to the color chart the designers went and lo and behold the red and white became the color of the (Bubble Top Caddy) LE. The pink caddy never got produced as I assume the Franklin Mint just felt the color would never fly.

So now you know the rest of the story on two models that should have been produced, as they would have made a wonderful addition to our collection.
