| It was supposed to be part of the defunct Muscle Car series. It started life as a 1971 Chevelle model kit. I asked my friend and fellow model maker, Vince LoBosco to do the build. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Vince was also part of the builders I used to get the concepts done along with my own contribution. While this model was being built, I built a black ’70 Chevelle for all the detail shots you saw in the brochure. It was also used in the High School Memories series I had proposed. We had to do some creative photography to hide the tire sizes since the ’70 used 14” tire and the ’71 used the 15” rim. Only a few minor changes would have given us this model. With the addition of a few more parts we would have had ’72 and parts to do the Heavy Chevy. I tried to put as much into the tooling as possible from the start so that we had models “on tap” when we needed them. Unfortunately, the ‘71 model never went to tooling as they killed the series. A few models have made it out but I find it unfortunate that they never released the cars planned. The black ’70 was released as a repaint. |
