The Frank Sinatra T-bird concept was presented to the Franklin Mint management for production consideration, just following his death. The car, diorama and imbedded sound chip were to be a tribute to his life. Tina Sinatra objected to this program and it was scuttled even though the program had progressed quite a bit. |

| A new chassis backstamp had been processed.
Unfortunately, when the program was turned off, the review team forgot
to change the backstamp. When it came time for a normal production run
of T-birds, they left China with the new Sinatra backstamp. There could
be hundreds if not thousands of cars with this error in circulation. In
an effort to contain this error, FM had even gone to the trouble of grinding
off the Frank Sinatra backstamp and touched-up the chassis with black paint. This model and display is a 1-off model created by George Bojaciuk and Raffi Minasian. The model was a weekend wonder, being stripped and repainted over a weekend by George. The original model is painted warm Ford silver. There is a paint chip on the leading edge of the hood where an attempt was made to open the hood from the front during the approval review. '56 T-bird hoods open from the back edge. The factory sampled the model but in cooler silver and two additional factory models with spotlights were made. These are the only models known to exist and they do not have a Sinatra backstamp, since it would not have been processed at this stage of development. |
