Woodstock, ah the memories...

Having written an article describing the story behind the birth of the Frank Sinatra replica, I was overwhelmed by the response I received requesting more information pertaining to which other models never made it out of gate? So my mission is now clear, I need to ferret out what other of these rare pieces never made it to manufacturing? Thanks to my good friend George Bojaciuk here is yet another model to drool over. Sit back and enjoy this short story of a time not so long ago and one of my favorite pieces.

Attempting not to show my age with my knowledge of this event who else amongst us remembers Woodstock as vividly as I do? You know when we still had hair and our weight was where it was supposed to be. Those days before all the chili dogs and everything else we ate, drank or smoked kicked in destroying our health. Here is a model to jog your memory back to that time not so long ago.

Wood Stock Hippie Van

This model was presented for production celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Woodstock, and was designed by George Bojaciuk utilizing the Franklin Mint 1962 Volkswagen Microbus.

Simply put this was a slice of Americana from 1969 as I remember it you know what I mean, close your eyes for a minute it will all come back to you I promise. The only thing missing is the "Yasgur's Farm" sign and a case of Boone’s Farm Strawberry wine along with a few other items that will go unmentioned.

There is only one known to exist in die cast land. Such a shame as this replica could have been one of those models that would be used to reminisce old times with good friends, or maybe not, as we would have a whole lot of explaining to do to our kids?

Not only was this a beautiful and unusual piece it was full of accessories adding to its mystique and aura. Randy Moyer was commissioned to do the build and Ric Golding of Scale Equipment Limited was commissioned to do the accessories. What a shame as I find myself mesmerized on the picture of this model with a smile on my face from ear to ear.

Thanks for the memories George!
