JSS Add/Edit Model

All models entered into the JSS Software database must be entered via Add/Edit Model. You may Add ANY Mint, Make or Scale even if it not on our list in My Collection to the database by inserting it here first.

Features of Add/Edit Models:

  • The whole idea of our database was to allow other members of our family the ability to identify our models. Here is where we can accomplish that goal by viewing a picture of each model.
  • Group My Models is one of our filters, which allows us to show the end-user specific models in our Search Engine. In other words by selecting Vette places this model in the group of Corvetts. So selecting Show Me Corvettes in our Search Engine would include this model.
  • You can Add as many models as you like. However, if you attempt to Delete a model that is currently being used in My Collection you will receive a message stating the Record cannot be deleted until you delete the record /records in My Collection. Other wise any or all records can be deleted.
  • Notice the Navigation controls at the bottom of this form to the right of the word record. To navigate through our records use these controls to move forward or back through the current record set.
  • Moving your mouse pointer over the picture field will indicate the required size of the picture in pixels, which is 285x185. To add a custom picture you will need to open the picture in your editing software and resize it to 285x185 pixels. We highly recommend saving the picture as a jpg to keep the size of the image as small as possible while maintaining a high image quality.

Now in your editing software select Edit•Copy which will copy your image to the Windows clipboard. Move back to our software if you are not in the Edit mode of our software you must select Edit from the Navigation Bar? Now Click in the picture area *you should notice a outline around the picture field indicating you now gave the field focus* right click in the Picture area and select Paste your image will now be inserted.

Not all fields are required on this form if you choose to use a special part number instead of the one supplied you can. Any required data on this form which you don't supply while entering a New model will generate a message upon trying to close this form indicating a required field needs data. You will need to address the field before continuing.

Note: The only item on this form that is mission critical is the Model Number. The following format IS REQUIRED. First two characters designate the mint, next four characters indicate the year, next three characters is the Make, next three characters indicate the Model and the final three characters indicate color.

Hence, FM1999CHEVETBLU broken down tells us the model is a Franklin Mint, 1999 Chevrolet, Corvette and it is blue. This is useful when using My Collection if we want to add a FM 1999 Chevrolet Corvette in My Collection for example and there are 10 of these models in our database typing FM1999CHECOR will now move us to ALL those models starting with the first one which meets this criteria. We can now scroll the remainder of the list to locate the correct model we require.
