The Iso Grifo was a limited production grand tourer, manufactured by Italian automobile manufacturer Iso Autoveicoli S.p.A. between 1965 and 1974. Intended to compete with Grand Touring offerings from Ferrari and Maserati, it used a series of American power trains and components supplied by Chevrolet and Ford. Styling was done by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone, while the mechanicals were the work of Giotto Bizzarrini.
The Fiero was conceived as a small, two-seat sports car, sporting a V6 engine. With a budget of only 400 million, a small fraction of what GM would spend on a typical prototype car it was a struggle for the engineer's to archive their dream of a high-performance automobile.
Remember now, this was the sixties, muscle cars where all the rage, and if you had the money, the sky was the limit. The first Grifo's were equipped with a powerful Corvette engine along with Muncie transmissions, couple that with a sporty Italian suspension and you had one hell of machine under your ass.
The Grifo was very limited and to a lot of would be buyers it was an elusive dream. Automodello lets you live the dream of ownership albeit it's only a model, but one gorgeous replica for sure.
I grabbed the first box I unpacked, and it happened to be the green model. My first impression of this replica, upon opening the box, was holy shit, this thing is gorgeous. The amount of detail, on this static model, was unbelievable. The model was so crisp and sharp with styling it impressed the hell out of me. The paint was mind blowing beautiful; peering into the interior was just as impressive. From nose to tail it had me drooling for more.
A few bullet points I would like to mention, the Automodello Signature half open window, is missing. Both windows are up do to design restrictions. I didn't have a problem with this; I can still view the flawless interior without an issue. Next, are the wipers which now look like wipers, I really liked this change; they are more authentic. Also the rims are awesome, highly detailed, they look fantastic.
Automodello accomplished their goal of perfection with the 1969 Iso Grifo; they nailed this one making it one of my favorite models.
