My passion is 1:24 but I do collect some quality 1:43 models I can not get in 1:24. Reading another model website, GLM was coming out with a 1972 Continental Mark IV, in green, black, and red. I want the red one as it represents a 1972 car from my past. So I emailed a respected vendor asking if I can pre-order. Contacted me back, they are not ordering anymore models from China due to tariffs.
This is just one product out of 100,000s. Administration said "Hang in There" (for a couple of years). Good luck with that.

Yeah, this tariff crap is a great way to destroy an economy. The stock market knows.

It's best not to panic. We've been through it before and it worked to the United States advantage. The U.S. has charged minimal tariffs of imported goods coming into our country, all the while, these other countries have imposed stiff tariffs on U.S. products going into their countries. And that's not fair to the U.S. or us. And they've been getting away with it far too long.
So long in fact, it wont get remedied in only a few short months. Reciprocal tariffs will actually be beneficial to our economy once the dust AND nerves settle. And its gotten companies to start investing billions in building product in the U.S. instead of somewhere else, which is a huge plus. Hang in there guys, we'll be just fine in the overall scheme of things.

Businesses need a fair degree of certainty to make big decisions like where to build a factory. There is no certainty regarding where these tariffs are headed. Having worked for a company that ravenously worked to offshore production I have a very hard time believing these tariffs will make a significant difference in bringing manufacturing back - there are still huge differences in labor costs to deal with. Even if it did bring back manufacturing it could take many years or even decades. You don't just flip a switch regarding where you produce things. You don't build a factory overnight. You don't find qualified labor quickly either, which is why there have been so many job openings without qualified people to fill them. Isolating the US from the rest of the world will only result in lower demand for our exports as other countries retaliate with their own tariffs.
Let me finally say that I would love to see manufacturing return to the US and for it to provide good paying jobs. I just don't buy the fairytales.
